The drive on the Going-to-the-Sun Road is one of the most amazing highlights of Glacier National Park. This marvelous path spans 50 miles through the park’s wild interior, winding around mountainsides and treating visitors to some of the best sights in northwest Montana.
We went to visit Glacier National Park in May and it was still a bit cold with snowed areas. It was such a shame since majority portion of Going-to-the-Sun Road was blocked due to ice and snow. The furthest we got to was to the trail for Avalanche Lake.
Did you know?
The road received its name during the 1933 dedication, borrowing it from nearby Going-to-the-Sun Mountain.
