Harbour Sixty, one of Toronto’s Best Steakhouses

Harbour Sixty is located at Toronto’s Harbour Street and is one of the best steakhouses in Toronto, which is why I wanted to check it out.

Did you know? Harbour Sixty opened in 1999 where the 1917 Toronto Harbour Commission used to be.

I ordered the Bone-In Rib Steak since Rib Steak or Rib Eye is always my go-to steak cut due to its tenderness and marbling, and has become my benchmark steak to compare with other steakhouses.

I got my doneness Chicago Style Medium Rare. I’ve been a fan of Chicago Style since I found out about it because I love the taste of char on steak. For me, this cooking brings out another level of flavour in steak that you can only get with that much charring.

However, the steak at Harbour Sixty wasn’t as flavourful as I hoped even with the char. I still prefer Peter’s Fine Dining. The meat wasn’t as marbled as I hoped as well, which may be the reason why the steak wasn’t as flavourful.

You get a choice of side in your order of steak, which is good because other places like Jacob’s Steakhouse and Ruth’s Chris don’t. Since we were already getting the truffle parmesan fries on the side, I opted for the garlic mashed potatoes.

One thing I didn’t expect to be wowed at Harbour Sixty was their truffle Parmigiano fries.

The truffle oil was just wafting with aroma as the fries were served, and it has a very strong flavour that sticks to the fries, unlike other truffle fries I’ve had.

They gave generous portions of Parmigiano cheese. There’s already a lot covering the fries, but they also gave a lot of shaved Parmigiano on top of the fries.

Although it can become quite salty because of that much Parmigiano cheese, it’s still the good salty – the cheesy kind.

The fries were perfectly cooked. Very crispy on the outside, and warm and potato-ey on the inside. What I loved about their fries is it was still good even if after it sat for a long time because we had to pace ourselves with other food.

Travelling Foodie Tip: You can request half portion for $8 which is still big enough to share. I actually wonder how big a full order is.
