Why Make Beef Meatballs and Brown Onion Gravy

After making Ninja Speedi Mashed Potatoes, I knew I definitely wanted to make brown gravy as well for it. But gravy alone is boring so I figured doing meatballs and gravy allows me to have a full meal.

Ninja Speedi is a unique air fryer type because it has a Steam & Crisp feature that allows even cooking, browning, and air frying ingredients without drying them out.

This is perfect for making meatballs and gravy because the meatballs can get easily dry when overcooked. And you can just set and forget, unlike cooking it with a pan.

How To Make Meatballs and Gravy in the Ninja Speedi

Here’s how to make the quick and easy Ninja Speedi Meatballs and Gravy.

Add brown gravy mix, beef stock powder, minced garlic, diced red onion, and 1.5 cup water to the Ninja Speedi inner pot. Mix everything well until combined.

Travelling Foodie Tip: If you want the meatballs to be more tender, add egg to the mixture.

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, Italian bread crumbs, Italian seasoning and diced red onion.

Using your damp hands, make ten meatballs (equally sized) from the beef mixture and space them out on the inner pot, which has the gravy mixture.

Close the Ninja Speedi lid and turn the unit on. Flip the switch to Rapid Cooker and select Steam & Crisp.

Set the temperature to 375F and time to 12 minutes. Press Start. Note: It takes around 5 minutes to build steam before crisping.

When cooking is complete, open the lid and stir the meatballs and gravy until it thickens.

Travelling Foodie Tip: you can add more water if you want it less thick. If you want it thicker, you need to reduce water before cooking.

Tender homemade beef meatballs smothered in brown onion gravy! An easy meal prep for dinner using Ninja Speedi.



  • 250 grams Ground Beef
  • 1 tbsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Italian Bread Crumbs
  • 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 piece Red Onion, diced


  • 2 tbsp Brown Gravy Mix
  • 1 tbsp Beef Stock Powder
  • 1 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/2 piece Red Onion, diced
  • 1.5 cup Water


    1. Add all of the Gravy ingredients into the Ninja Speedi inner pot.
    2. In a large bowl, add and combine all the ingredients for Meatballs.
    3. Make 10 equally sized meatballs with the mixture and place them on the inner pot.
    4. Close the Ninja Speedi lid, flip the switch to Rapid Cooker and select Steam & Crisp.
    5. Set the temperature to 375F (190C) and time to 10 minutes, and press Start. Note: It takes around 4 minutes to build steam before crisping.
    6. When cooking is complete, open lid and stir everything so the meatballs are coated and gravy thickens.
    7. Transfer to plate, serve and enjoy the Ninja Speedi Meatballs and Gravy!
